Wallpaper Calculator
Find out exactly how many rolls of wallpaper you need for a room - with US single, double and European roll sizes, and pattern-repeat allowance.
How to use this wallpaper calculator
Measure the length, width and ceiling height of the room, subtract your window and door area, and pick the roll type. The calculator multiplies the perimeter by the height and divides by the usable coverage per roll.
Patterned wallpaper needs more material: with a large pattern repeat you lose up to 20% to matching cuts, so select a roll type and check "patterned" to add the standard 15% allowance. One extra roll on top of that is the safe rule.
Wallpaper calculator FAQ
How do I measure for wallpaper?
Measure each wall's width and add them together for the perimeter, then multiply by the wall height. Subtract 15 sq ft per window and 21 sq ft per door, then divide by the roll coverage.
What is a double roll of wallpaper?
Most wallpaper is actually sold as double rolls (56 usable sq ft) but priced per single roll. Check your order: many shops list per single roll but ship double rolls.
How much does wallpaper installation cost?
Professional installation typically costs $2-$4 per sq ft or $25-$60 per roll. DIY is very doable with pre-pasted wallpaper, but needs careful surface prep.
